Brazil’s Lula defeat Bolsonaro to win presidential election

Stunning come back for the Lula as Bolsonaro concedes defeat in presidential polls


In Brazil, the left leaning former Brazilian president Mr. Lula has swept back to power by defeating the current president.

The stunning comeback is a result of the current government handling of COVID in the country. Mr. Lula won 50.8 % of votes against 49.2 % for Mr. Bolsonaro.

Mr. Lula has vowed a return to economic growth and social policies that helped lift millions out of poverty when he governed Brazil from 2003 to 2010. He also promises to combat destruction of the Amazon rain forest, and make Brazil a leader in global climate talks.
